Bulk qr code batch jobs that resume

SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026

Bulk qr code batch jobs are a queue with an audit trail, not a request that must finish every render before it returns. Rows are staged, claimed, and drained in chunks. You can close the tab. A Canva one-off is still the right tool when you have one frozen destination and will not count scans.

Why bulk qr code batch jobs are a queue

Claim uses for update skip locked. The item id is the qr id. Learn skipped versus failed rows from the error field. A cron sweep every five minutes drains stalled work.

A single HTTP request that created codes in a loop died on large sheets. The platform time limit killed it mid-run. Codes already inserted stayed inserted. The batch row stayed processing. Nobody could see which lines had landed, so nobody could resume. Staging first is the fix.

An item moves pending, then claimed, then created, failed, or skipped. The claim uses for update skip locked so two drainers take disjoint rows and neither waits. Overlap between a browser poll and a cron sweep every five minutes is throughput, not a race to duplicate work.

The item id is the qr id of the code it created. There is no separate qr_id column. If you delete the code later, the item remains as the record that it once existed. GET of a batch joins on that identity.

Paid options are $1.99, $29, $97, and $197. We do not sell an unpaid tier. The file format is covered in bulk QR from CSV upload. Names are covered in bulk QR code naming rules. Machine creation is QR code API for CRUD.

Use tracked QR codes when each row is a placement, dynamic QR codes when destinations will move, and a website URL generator when the payload is a link. Retail marketing codes are the usual shelf-edge reason to mint by SKU.

How to run a batch without losing the middle

Treat the job as something you can leave and return to.

  1. Name the batch after the print run, not after the date you uploaded. Printers ask for "spring facings," not "file (3).csv."
  2. Stage the rows. Small batches may drain inline for about 20 seconds and come back finished. Large ones return while items are still pending.
  3. Watch item states, not a single spinner. Claimed means a worker holds the row. Created means a code exists.
  4. If you leave, the cron sweep every five minutes continues draining stalled work.
  5. When the batch is partial, export the error list. Fix URLs or allowance, then stage the remainder as a new batch rather than guessing which cartons exist.
  6. Download SVG or 300 dpi PNG or PDF per code at the final size. Do not screenshot /qr-preview.
  7. Proof the first, a middle, and the last created row on the real stock at 2 cm or larger with a four-module quiet zone.
  8. Keep the provider resolving those hosted URLs. Pause is a separate state from archive.

What pending, partial, and failed mean

Pending or processing: items remain. Do not plate from a processing batch. You do not yet know the set.

Completed: every item created. Still proof-scan. Creation success is not print success.

Partial: some created, some not. This is the status that saves reprints if you read it. Reprinting the whole sheet because twenty URLs failed is how you get two short codes for one SKU in the wild.

Failed as a batch: nothing created. The sheet never became ink. Fix the cause and stage again.

Skipped versus failed rows is the support trap. Skipped versus failed rows must be explained with the error field, not with folklore. Allowance exhaustion is skipped. A refused scheme is failed.

Can two workers mint the same short code

They claim different items. Short-code uniqueness is an index on insert, not a pre-check that two workers can both pass. On conflict the insert is skipped and the miss is reminted. Collisions became a retry, not an incident.

That is the opposite of the old uniqueness probe, which was one round trip per row and still not a guarantee. Do not reintroduce a probe in a script that talks to /api/v1 either. Let the unique index be the check.

Two browsers polling the same batch are safe for the same reason. Skip locked means the second waiter does not sit on the first's rows.

Batch failures you can resume from

A killed request with no item table cannot resume. That is the shape that is gone. If you still run an importer that creates inside one timeout, you are back in 2024.

A design stored as a data URL instead of a styled envelope discards colour. Codes create. They render in the default style. Set colour in the batch design, then proof on press paper, rather than on a calibrated monitor alone.

javascript: destinations must fail the item. If they created, a scanner would follow them on a domain they trust because the poster looks official.

Provider pause after a completed batch still stops scans. Resume of the job does not override F91. Hosted codes need the resolver. Static Canva files do not.

What to tell the plant while a batch is still draining

Printers think in files, not in queues. If you promised art at 09:00 and the batch is still processing at 08:40, send nothing. A partial ZIP with yesterday's short codes mixed with today's is how two labels share a SKU.

Give them a status vocabulary they can put on a whiteboard: pending means wait, completed means files exist, partial means some SKUs are missing, failed means none exist. Do not translate partial as "mostly done, print what you have."

If the cron sweep every five minutes is the thing still draining, say so. Closing the laptop is then correct. Reloading the tab and staging a second job with the same rows is how you mint duplicates.

When files finally exist, name the ZIP after the batch name you chose, not after "export (2)". The item id is the qr id. If a designer deletes a code to "clean up," the item still records that it was created, and the plant may still have the old SVG. Align deletion with a pause of any print that already left the building.

Throughput used to die inside one HTTP timeout. That is why the queue exists. Do not rebuild the old loop in a local script that talks to /api/v1 in a for-loop without idempotency keys. You would recreate the same lost-middle problem with different HTTP.

If two plants share one batch ZIP, agree which plant owns which SKU rows before anyone rips plates. A shared ZIP without a split list is how both plants print the same short code onto two flavours.

When a single create is the right job

One URL, one poster, maybe a logo: create it once, or use Canva if you will never edit or count. Bulk qr code batch jobs add a queue you do not need.

Hundreds of hosted links for facings, inserts, or enterprise QR code rollout work: use the queue. Export real print files. Size for distance. Do not treat a completed batch as a substitute for a test scan on the formed pack.

Questions this raises

Pending or processing means items remain. Completed means every item created. Partial means some created and some did not. Failed as a batch means nothing created. Read item errors before you reprint.

They should not. Items are claimed with skip locked so each row is taken once. Short codes use a unique index. A collision remints; it does not duplicate the destination.

When you have one code. Bulk qr code batch jobs exist for many rows. A Canva static file is enough when that one code will never be edited or counted.

Skipped means never attempted because QR allowance ran out. Failed means attempted and refused. Do not tell merchandising the URLs were invalid when the account was full.
