Static vs dynamic QR codes
A static code stores the data in the squares. A dynamic code stores our URL in the squares and the data on a server. Static never needs us. Dynamic can be edited after printing and can be counted. Our Wi-Fi type is static. The other sixteen types are not.
What static is for
A URL that will not move. A Wi-Fi password you are willing to reprint. Offline payloads (WIFI:, a vCard stored in the pattern if you generate one that way).
Static codes do not expire because there is no host. They also cannot be updated. If the restaurant changes the password, the sticker is a lie.
What dynamic is for
Anything printed in volume, or anything whose URL is still being argued. Scan counts. Landing-page types (menu, PDF, gallery) that you will keep editing.
Dynamic codes die if the host dies (F91). That is the trade.
Our split
Redirect types: website, WhatsApp, Google review, location. Landing types: vCard, PDF, images, social, video, text, custom, Facebook, app, menu, business, event. Static: Wi-Fi only.
FAQ
- Is a static QR code generator enough?
- Yes, when the payload is frozen. Use Canva or goQR.me. Do not pay us for that job.
- Are dynamic codes better?
- They are different. Better when you need edits or counts. Worse when you need zero dependency on a company.
- Do static codes expire?
- The pattern does not. The URL it encodes still can 404.
- Can I convert static to dynamic later?
- No. You print a new pattern.
Trial is $1.99 for 7 days, not an unpaid tier. Create a code when the destination might still move.
