QR codes for real estate listings

SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026

QR codes for real estate belong on the flyer in the hand and the board at the kerb. Host the URL so a price drop does not reprint the coroplast. A Canva one-off is enough for a one-day open-home flyer you will never count. Size the flyer near 2 cm. Size the board for a car.

Why QR codes for real estate should be hosted

A listing is not a poster. The ask moves, the photos move, the status moves to sold. A static this-house PDF in the modules is wrong the day the price drops. Point boards and brochures at a website QR so listing price drop edits happen on the destination. The printed pattern stays.

A brochure photo gallery (up to 40 images) is the right landing page when the portal crops the set. An open-home calendar event is an ICS download, not a redirect. The phone still asks the guest to confirm the save.

This is the wrong job for a single open-home flyer that dies at 4pm, will never change, and will never be counted. Canva or another free static generator is the file. There is no unpaid SmartQRCode tier. $1.99, $29, $97, and $197 are the paid options. The catalog is 17 types. An agency does not get an eighteenth listing type.

Portal URL density matters on static files. A long Rightmove-style URL packed with query strings makes a denser pattern at the same millimetre size. A hosted symbol's density is the short URL, so campaign parameters do not change the printed pattern.

Street boards are a separate print. See QR codes for property signs for coroplast, wind, and car-lane reads. Shop-window clings are closer to QR codes for shop windows. Hotel desk cards are a different pause. The real estate use case is the industry page.

How to print listing flyers and matching boards

  1. Create one hosted website (or gallery) per listing. Split flyer versus board destinations only if you need to know which object was scanned.
  2. Set M on indoor flyer stock. Set H on outdoor boards that flex and scuff.
  3. Flyer: at least 2 cm across for a hand-held 30 cm read. Board: size for street distance. A 2 cm code on a 6 m panel is invisible from the road.
  4. Keep four empty modules inside the card edge. Round corners that bleed the quiet zone are a common fail on DL flyers.
  5. Export SVG or a print PDF. Do not plate a screenshot. The preview encodes /qr-preview.
  6. Proof the flyer under office lights, then the board from the far side of the street, including from a car.
  7. Do not encode the full portal URL as a static symbol if you expect UTMs to change. Put UTMs on the hosted destination.
  8. If you add an open-home calendar event, print it on the invitation, not as a tiny mark on the street board.
  9. When the listing sells, point the hosted URL at a sold page. Do not rely on a sold sticker covering the modules. Covering a finder breaks the scan.

Coroplast, foamboard, and outdoor boards want H and a size for the real viewing distance. Automotive rear-window and yard signs are the same family: first read from a car.

How do you print a real estate listing QR code

Print the flyer code above the fold on the front, not in a footer of eight-point legal. People hold the sheet at reading distance. They do not hunt.

For the board, sit the symbol at chest-to-head height on the face the traffic actually sees. A footer mark on a landscape board is a design habit, not a scan habit.

Send vector to the sign writer. A PNG of the portal screenshot, enlarged, interpolates grey into the modules.

If several agents share codes, use team roles rather than forwarding logins. That is a product surface. Selling state is not asserted here.

Can you change a listing destination after the board is printed

Yes, when the board is hosted. Price, status, and the next instruction change on the page. You reprint when the board is stolen, faded, or the face is physically covered.

A static Canva QR that encodes a PDF of the brochure is frozen. That is acceptable for a one-day open-home flyer. It is not acceptable for a board that will stand through a price revision.

Hosted codes depend on the provider. A pause or an unpaid invoice stops a physically perfect board. A static file has no such dependency and no such editability.

Scan totals, device type, and country come from headers. They are not a list of vendor names.

Listing failures that are not the portal

A static PDF in the modules after a price drop is first. Host it.

A board sized like a flyer is second. Street distance is not 30 cm.

Dark brick as a ground for a clear cling is third. Apply a light patch first.

Two boards in one camera frame at a junction return one symbol. Separate them.

Do not reprint a photograph of a dressed listing board as the next face.

Flyers, portals, and the sold day

Flyer versus board destinations should be split when the agency needs to know whether the scan came from a DL sheet or from the street. Both can land on the same listing page after the hop. The codes themselves should differ. Two stylings of one static portal URL cannot tell you which object worked.

Portal URL density is a static-file problem. A long listing link with query strings packs more modules into the same millimetre size. A hosted symbol stays short. Put UTMs on the destination, not in the ink, if you expect the campaign parameters to change.

On sold day, point the hosted URL at a sold page. A sold sticker that covers a finder stops the scan even when the destination is correct. Place the sticker beside the modules. Covering a nested square is the usual reason a sold board looks fine and does not open.

Open-home calendar event codes belong on the invitation, not as a 12 mm mark on a landscape board. An ICS landing page is not a redirect. The guest still confirms the save in the phone calendar. That is OS behaviour.

Brochure photo gallery pages can hold up to 40 images. Use them when the portal crops the set. Changing the gallery does not reprint the flyer when the type is hosted.

Send SVG to the sign writer. A PNG of a portal screenshot, enlarged to board size, interpolates grey. The generator preview encodes /qr-preview. Do not plate it.

Error correction M on indoor flyer stock. H on outdoor boards that flex and scuff. Quiet zone inside the card edge, not bled off a rounded DL corner. Flyer size starts at 2 cm for a hand-held 30 cm read. Board size is street distance. A 2 cm code on a 6 m panel is invisible from the road.

A one-day open-home flyer that dies at 4pm, never edits, and never counts is still a Canva job. The board that will stand through a price revision is not.

When the open-home flyer can stay Canva

A Canva one-off is enough for a one-day open home flyer: one URL, no edits, no count, paper in the recycling at 5pm. Hosting that sheet is wasted cost.

A board that will still be planted next month should be hosted. Guest-room hotels and shop windows are neighbouring print problems, not listing problems.

Questions this raises

Host a website or gallery URL, print a small code on the flyer at 2 cm for hand-held reads, print a much larger code on the board for street distance, export SVG, and use H on outdoor stock.

Yes on a hosted code. Listing price drop edits, sold stamps, and a move to the next instruction happen on the destination. A static PDF baked into the modules is wrong the day the ask changes.

Use Canva or another free static generator when the flyer is one afternoon, the URL will not move, and you will not count scans. A board that will stand for weeks should be hosted.

They can share a hosted destination, but flyer versus board destinations are often split so you can see which object was scanned. Two stylings of one static URL cannot tell you that.

Yes. An open-home calendar event is an ICS landing page, not a redirect. Guests still confirm the save in the phone calendar app.
