QR codes for salons at the chair

SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026

QR codes for salons belong on the ticket and the chair-side card a client already holds with dry fingers, not on a wet mirror. Host the booking link so a scheduler change does not reprint the window. A Canva one-off is enough for a single freeze-the-price flyer that will never be counted.

How QR codes for salons should sit at the chair

The pause is after the cape goes on, or while paying. Chair-side booking codes should be a hosted website QR code or a WhatsApp QR code with a pre-filled message. A Google review QR code is a salon review on the receipt, not on the shopfront. Receipts are the pause for reviews more often than a window where the guest has not yet decided the visit was worth reviewing.

Mirrors are a bad ground. Water, product, and invert tricks fail. Cameras expect dark-on-light finders. A dark salon wall with a dark pattern and no true invert is unread. Glass vinyl needs a white back. The scene behind the pane becomes the light modules if you skip it.

This job does not apply to a one-weekend student-cut poster. Canva or another free static generator is enough then. Hosted codes last as long as the provider resolves them.

Vinyl shops still need SVG for window marks. Proof the chair card on matte stock under the same downlighters as the station. Hairspray mist on gloss is glare plus scuff. Wipe the quiet zone between clients. Put hiring posters on the door and booking on the dry ticket. Those are different pauses.

Cousins: QR codes for spa booking for steam, QR codes for clinics for waiting rooms, QR codes for wedding guests for table cards. Gyms and fitness QR ideas share the appointment pause.

Print a chair card that survives hairspray mist

  1. Host the booking URL. Do not bake a long static scheduler link into a 2 cm ticket mark.
  2. Set error correction to H if you add a logo or expect product mist. H restores about 30 percent. Keep size at or above 2 cm for a phone at about 30 cm.
  3. Guard the mirror-decal quiet zone. Four empty modules, inside the trim, dry.
  4. Export SVG for window vinyl and a 300 dpi PNG or PDF for toner on tickets. Do not screenshot the preview.
  5. Proof on matte stock under the same downlighters as the chair. Gloss glare is a salon default.
  6. Place the salon review on the receipt or the ticket at pay, not on the street vinyl.
  7. Colour-card Wi-Fi reprint is a separate static sticker. Wi-Fi is not editable after printing and not trackable. Confirm with a phone that is not already on that SSID.
  8. Paid options are $1.99, $29, $97, or $197.

A colour bowl on the trolley can put two chair-side booking codes in one camera frame. Keep the booking card on the station drawer the client faces, not on the bowl. Hairspray mist on a gloss ticket is a glare-plus-scuff pair. Matte the ticket. Wipe the quiet zone between clients.

Walk-in glass that faces the street is a stranger pause, not a client pause. Put booking there only if you host it and accept pavement distance. Reviews still wait for the ticket at pay. A window review mark is the same mistake as a restaurant shopfront review.

Retail shelves of shampoo at the desk are arm length and can sit near 2 cm. The street window is not. Do not copy one millimetre size onto both. Transparent stickers on glass still need a white back. The scene on the pavement is not a quiet zone.

Where should a salon QR sit so wet hands still scan

On a dry card. Wet fingers smear a mirror decal and eat the quiet zone. The chair-side card the colourist already handed over is the honest surface. Size near 2 cm at sitting distance. If the code is across the room on a retail shelf of shampoo, grow it.

Two codes on a cluttered trolley in one camera frame return one result. Keep the booking mark alone in view.

Low light at a backwash is a camera problem more than an app problem. Current iOS Camera and Android cameras read a well-formed symbol. Some Android skins still bury the reader behind a mode toggle.

Can you change the booking URL after the window vinyl

Yes, when the vinyl encodes a hosted website. Swap Fresha for another scheduler, or change the campaign UTM on the destination, without reprinting. The printed density is the short URL, not the destination, so parameters do not change the pattern.

Colour-card Wi-Fi reprint is still new ink when the passphrase rotates. Do not expect scan totals from it. Analytics on hosted types count scans, not clients, and cannot see a name.

Redirects use 302. A 301 would freeze the first scheduler in some phones. A paused hosted code stops resolving. Archived codes keep scanning.

If the salon cannot depend on a provider, print a static booking URL and accept reprint when the link moves.

When chair codes fail after a colour service

Product mist and gloss glare are the salon-specific pair. Matte the card. Wipe the quiet zone. H recovers scuff. It does not recover a finder under a sticker of a competitor.

Uncoated appointment cards drink ink. Modules spread. Use coated stock or a larger symbol, not L.

Do not photograph a styled station and plate that photograph. Send vector.

A colour bowl that faces the same way as the booking card puts two symbols in one frame. Keep the card on the drawer the client faces. Walk-in glass is pavement distance, not sitting distance. Do not copy the chair millimetre size onto the street vinyl. Transparent stickers still need a white back. The pavement scene is not a quiet zone. Reviews wait for the ticket at pay.

When a Canva salon flyer is the honest file

A Canva one-off or other free static generator is the right tool for a freeze-the-price flyer that will never change and will never be counted. Hosting that flyer on SmartQRCode wastes a paid option. Using a static file for a weekly booking link wastes vinyl.

ISO/IEC 18004 does not care which generator drew the modules. A valid symbol scans the same.

A student-cut weekend with one frozen price list can stay a Canva file on matte card at sitting distance. A chair that books through a scheduler you might replace next quarter cannot. Wet mirrors still fail even if the payload is hosted. Hosting does not dry glass. Keep chair-side booking codes on a dry card. Colour-card Wi-Fi reprint remains a new sticker when the passphrase rotates. Do not expect device charts from it. Put the salon review on the receipt at pay. Street vinyl is a stranger still walking.

If the only mark you need is a one-time hiring poster on the door, Canva is enough. If you need to swap the booking vendor without reprinting the window, host the website type and send SVG to the vinyl shop. Those two jobs look similar on a mood board and they are not the same file.

Questions this raises

On a matte chair-side booking card the client already holds, or on the ticket. Mirror-decal quiet zone work fails when water and product smear the glass. Keep four empty modules on a dry card.

Yes if the vinyl encodes a hosted website. Swap the scheduler without reprinting. Colour-card Wi-Fi reprint is still a new sticker when the passphrase rotates, because Wi-Fi is not editable and not trackable.

A Canva one-off or other free static generator is enough for a single freeze-the-price flyer that will never be edited or counted. Recurring booking and review links need a hosted code.

Put the salon review on the receipt or the ticket after the visit, not on street glass where a passer-by has not yet had a cut.

SVG for window marks and a 300 dpi PNG or PDF for toner on tickets. Do not screenshot the on-screen preview.
