QR code EPS format we do not ship

SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026

QR code EPS format is a printer conversion, not a file SmartQRCode exports. Downloads are PNG, JPG, SVG, and PDF. Send SVG or a vector PDF and let the plant wrap it as EPS if their RIP still wants that suffix. Do not screenshot the on-screen preview.

QR code EPS format is a printer conversion, not a download we ship

EPS is an older PostScript envelope. Some offset plants still list it on a purchase order the way they still list film. The modules do not care. What they care about is paths versus pixels. SVG and a pdf vector to press already carry those paths. There is no eps download on this product because generating a second legacy wrapper does not make the grid more ISO-legal.

The on-screen preview encodes /qr-preview. Saving that view as EPS, or auto-tracing it in Illustrator, ships the wrong payload and broken corners. Download SVG after you own the code, then let the shop do illustrator save as eps if their ticket is stuck in 2009.

A website or dynamic code is still a hosted URL in whatever container you email. SVG versus PNG is the real press choice. Vector for print is the cutter and spot-colour procedure. This page is only the EPS question.

What should I send if the shop demands eps

Send SVG. Write on the ticket that they may run an eps from svg conversion locally. If they refuse SVG, send a PDF and confirm in preflight that the symbol is still paths, not an embedded 72 dpi image. If they refuse both, you are in a raster shop: follow the dpi brief and export PNG at the finished millimetres.

Vinyl cutters that "need EPS" still need paths. A PNG renamed or placed into an EPS file will be traced. Tracing QR modules produces broken corners.

Packaging converters who grew up on EPS will convert. Your job is to give them geometry, not an argument about decades.

A logo inside the symbol remains an error-correction problem in EPS, SVG, and PNG alike. The wrapper does not restore a finder you covered.

Is eps better than svg for qr

No. Spot-colour offset wants 100 percent of one ink as paths. SVG does that. EPS can too, after conversion. Neither wrapper repairs a four-colour rich black or a screenshot. JPG in an EPS envelope is still JPG.

If a plant will only ingest EPS, that is their RIP habit, not a quality ranking. Give them SVG and a patient email. Do not invent a download we do not have.

How illustrator save as eps should stay at the printer

If you have Illustrator, you can open the SVG and export EPS yourself. That is still their preferred wrapper, not a SmartQRCode feature. Watch for "outline text" scripts that also round path corners. Watch for RGB to CMYK conversions that turn 100 percent black into four-colour black. Watch for a crop that shaves the quiet zone.

Older EPS flavours disagree about transparency. A clear background in SVG may become white or drop out when saved to EPS8. If the shop wanted clear, confirm what their EPS actually holds. If they wanted a white box, give them a white box in SVG and stop arguing about alpha.

A plant that still images film from EPS is not a reason to screenshot a browser. Film wants paths too. If their ticket says "EPS or TIFF at 300 dpi," you now know which half of that sentence to pick for QR: the vector half, converted on their side.

When you should skip our generator and paste a static file

If the job is a one-off static URL, never edited, never counted, generate it in Canva or the iOS tools and let that shop convert to EPS. SmartQRCode has no unpaid plan. Paying $1.99 only to obtain SVG for a bake-sale flyer is optional. Paying us and then tracing the preview into EPS is how you get /qr-preview on a carton.

Send SVG. Let them suffix it EPS. Leave the dashboard screenshot in the dashboard.

Questions this raises

No. The no eps download list is PNG, JPG, SVG, and PDF. There is no EPS button.

Send SVG or a vector PDF. Ask them to run an eps from svg conversion in their RIP or in Illustrator. That step is theirs.

Not for the modules. Both can hold paths. EPS is a legacy wrapper some plants still name on a spec sheet. SVG is what we actually generate.

No. The preview encodes /qr-preview. Auto-tracing a screenshot into EPS is how corners die.

No. EPS, SVG, and PNG are ink. Edit-after-print is a hosted URL. A static payload stays static in every container.
