QR code for a video landing
SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026
QR code for a video landing means the scan opens our hosted video page, not the YouTube app on the first hop. You title the page, attach one required film and an optional second, then print. You can swap the cut later. If the film is frozen and uncounted, a static YouTube QR from Canva is the smaller tool.
QR code for a video landing
A video landing is the Video type's job: a page with title, description, embeds, optional covers, and an optional homepage link. The modules stay a SmartQRCode URL. The films behind them can change. That is landing-page encoding, editable after print, with scan totals, device, and country. It is not a 302 to youtube.com, and it is not the beta block editor.
This is the wrong surface when you need a ticket, a calendar file, or a store badge. Use event QR codes for ICS, the App type for listings, and Website URL when you want the scanner in YouTube immediately. It is also the wrong surface when one watch URL is immortal. Encode that URL statically and do not pay $29 for a page you will not edit. Paid options include $1.99, $97, and $197. There is no unpaid tier.
The form walkthrough lives in how to make a video QR code. This page is the landing: what scanners see, what you can promise, and how large the print has to be in a hall.
Title the page before you attach the cut
- Create a Video code. Set Page Title first so the landing has a heading before any embed.
- Write Description as a standing-up sentence, not a script.
- Paste Video 1 URL as a YouTube or Vimeo URL. Confirm it plays while logged out.
- Add Video 1 Title as the label under the still. Upload a cover only if the default frame is useless.
- Use Video 2 for a second cut, not as a dumping ground. No third slot exists.
- Add Website URL if the landing should offer a homepage after the films.
- Scan the paid code on a phone. Do not screenshot the create preview. That pattern is /qr-preview.
- Export SVG or a 300 dpi PDF. For a table card, 2 cm across at about 30 cm is the working floor. For a trade-show roll-up, trade stand distance is metres. Enlarge the symbol and sit it at chest-to-head height.
The video generator is the tool. A custom landing is a different beta type with blocks, not a video gallery.
Why the browser will not autoplay for you
why the browser will not autoplay for you is OS and browser policy, not a missing checkbox on our page. browser autoplay is a promise you cannot print. Design the poster as if the guest must tap. A cover still is advertising. It is not playback.
Logged-in YouTube on your test phone will hide region and login failures. Test with a second device that has never watched the film. Country in our analytics is a header, not proof they watched.
If you need the YouTube app, not our page, use a Website URL pointed at the watch link. You lose the second-film gallery and the hosted title. You gain the native player. Pick on purpose.
How far a booth film code should print
how far a booth film code should print follows viewing distance, not panel width. A 2 cm code on a 2 m graphic is invisible from the aisle. D20 is a phone at about 30 cm. A roll-up is D21. Several times 2 cm is the starting guess. Put the symbol where a chest-height camera points, not in a footer under legal lines.
Lanyards and badges flex. A film code on a badge is a poor booth plan. Post an A4 at the stand instead. Schools and events have the same badge problem. The film can stay on the landing. The symbol should sit on a board.
Gloss panels under hall lighting flare. Matte on the symbol area scans more often than a clever invert on a dark ground.
Swapping the film without a new print
The point of a hosted video page is to swap the cut later. New demo, same crate. New language, same window vinyl. Paste the new URL. The print does not know. A static YouTube symbol in the modules cannot do this. When the old watch URL dies, that print is finished.
Pause if the film must stop. Archive if the print should keep working while you hide the code from the dashboard list. Those are different states.
A provider shutdown or an unpaid invoice stops a physically perfect print. That is the hosted trade. A static YouTube QR has no such dependency and no such edit.
Scan totals over time, device type, and country still apply. They do not measure watch time. If the booth question is whether anyone scanned the roll-up, the QR dashboard answers. If the question is whether they finished the film, YouTube answers. Do not merge those numbers in a report.
Vector SVG and a high-resolution PDF are the files to send a commercial printer. A screenshot of the create canvas is RGB pixels plus UI chrome. Offset and flexo want the dark modules as 100 percent of one ink, not a four-colour build that fringes.
Booth audio is not a QR setting. If the hall is loud, the landing title has to tell the guest what they are about to watch before they hunt for a headphone. A silent autoplay failure looks like a dead code. It is a browser policy. Fix the title and the poster frame, then re-scan.
When the film is final enough for Canva
when the film is final enough for Canva is a one-off poster whose watch URL will not move and will not be counted. Generate the static file in Canva or an in-app generator. You are done.
Use the hosted landing when the cut will change, when a second film might appear, or when the booth needs a scan count. Do not pick the custom beta type to get a video block unless you actually need a block page. Video already is the gallery. Export a printer file. Keep /qr-preview off the plate.
Questions this raises
Phone browsers decide. A video landing cannot promise that the film starts when the page opens.
Aisle distance is often two to four metres. A 2 cm symbol is a table-tent size, not a roll-up size. Print larger and place at chest height.
When you will never replace the cut and you do not need scan counts. Encode the watch URL as a static file.
No. Video 1 is required. Video 2 is optional. Further films need a playlist URL or a different type.
No. It is a hosted video page. A Website URL type can redirect to YouTube if you want the app, not our page.
