Whatsapp QR prefilled message
SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026
A whatsapp QR prefilled message is optional seed text on a hosted WhatsApp redirect. The scan opens a chat with the line already typed. You can rewrite it after print. A Canva one-off wa.me string is enough when that pitch will never change and you will not count scans.
Whatsapp QR prefilled message you can rewrite later
The WhatsApp type stores a number and an optional message. Both sit behind a SmartQRCode URL, so the printed modules do not densify when you lengthen the pitch. That is the opposite of baking a long wa.me query into a static file.
This is the wrong job if you need a website form, a vCard, or a maps pin. It is the wrong spend if the message is a one-line joke for a single party invitation. Free static generators such as Canva will encode that joke once. Seed text rewrite later will not exist.
Estate boards are a fit: the first scan should open a chat, not a typing test in the rain. See real estate boards. The pitch can mention a price this week and a different price next week without a new coroplast print, as long as the code is hosted.
Print at least 2 cm at a 30 cm phone distance. Boards read from a neighbouring lane need tens of centimetres across.
Add the seed text without baking it into the modules
- Open the WhatsApp QR generator and enter the international number.
- Type a booking prompt line in the message field, or leave empty chat fallback if you want a blank compose box.
- Keep the line short. The customer should tap send, not scroll.
- Set error correction H if a logo sits in the centre; M on a clean flyer with no logo.
- Quiet zone four modules. Export SVG or 300 dpi PNG/PDF at the real size. No /qr-preview screenshot.
- Print a 2 cm proof (larger for street boards). Scan from the real distance with the built-in camera.
- Confirm the pre-filled send line appears, then change it in the dashboard and scan again to prove the 302 edit.
$1.99, $29, $97, $197. No unpaid tier. For counts per board, use a separate hosted code per placement via the tracking generator.
How long can a WhatsApp prefilled line be?
Short. The OS compose box is not a brochure. A booking prompt line that names the listing or the product is enough. A paragraph risks truncation or a customer who deletes it unread.
You can still store a longer hosted destination than a static wa.me would print cleanly, but the human limit is tighter than the encoder limit. Empty chat fallback is valid when you do not know what the guest will ask.
Number format still needs the country code. The message cannot fix a local-only number.
The parent recipe is how to make a WhatsApp QR code. Boards that should open maps instead belong in how to make a location QR code.
Can you rewrite the seed text after flyers print?
Yes, on a hosted WhatsApp code. Seed text rewrite later is the dashboard message field. The next scan follows a 302. A 301 cache would freeze the old pitch; this product does not use 301 on scan redirects.
wa.me static freeze is the Canva path: the message is in the modules. Changing the price means a new flyer.
Hosted codes last as long as the provider resolves them. That is the trade for edit after print.
Analytics: totals, device, country. Not the chat contents. Not the person's name.
Message text that looks right on a laptop and fails on a phone
Desktop WhatsApp Web is not the scan path. Test on iOS Camera and Android Camera / Google Lens. If WhatsApp is missing, install-then-open is expected.
Print still fails independently of copy: 2 cm floor ignored on a board, quiet zone bled off coroplast, logo larger than error correction H can restore, or a screenshot of /qr-preview.
If the line appears with odd plus-encoding or spaces, simplify the copy. Avoid relying on emoji as the only instruction.
Paused codes do not open chats. Check pause before you rewrite the pitch a third time.
Estate copy on the board ("guided viewing, ask about the annex") can live in the hosted seed text. When the annex becomes the main door, rewrite the line. The coroplast stays. If you printed the annex sentence in a static wa.me, you are reprinting in the rain.
Do not put the full listing URL in the pre-filled send line. The guest already scanned. A booking prompt line plus the house name is enough. Long URLs in the compose box look like phishing even when they are yours. Short-link hosts are a common phishing pattern in the wild; saying so is allowed. Inventing a statistic about it is not.
Price drops belong in the message or in a paired website redirect, not in a second WhatsApp code on the same stake. Two marks in one camera frame return one result. If you need both chat and maps, separate them by more than a phone-width.
Gloss boards under sun fail after a desk scan worked. Matte the symbol area. Uncoated stock spreads ink; go larger, do not drop to error correction L.
A vehicle magnet with a WhatsApp mark is a distance job. Tens of centimetres across if the first read is a neighbouring lane. 2 cm is a sitting-distance floor, not a car-length promise.
Seed text that names a price, then the price moves
Hosted WhatsApp lets you rewrite "viewing Saturday 2pm" to "viewing Sunday 11am" without a new flyer. That is the job. A static wa.me that named Saturday is litter.
Do not put card numbers, one-time passcodes, or anything you would not shout in a street in the pre-filled line. The scan is public. Anyone with line of sight to the board gets the compose box.
Test iOS and Android. WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp personal accept the same number field if registered. Missing-app install-then-open is expected. Do not promise a lock-screen banner.
Print: 2 cm floor at 30 cm, larger for boards, four-module quiet zone, no /qr-preview, error correction H with a logo.
Freeze the pitch in Canva when it will never move
A Canva one-off or other free static generator is the right tool for a wa.me link whose number and sentence are immortal and uncounted. A wedding weekend RSVP chat that dies on Monday should not sit on $97.
Do not static-encode a sales pitch you will A/B next week. Do not host seed text you will never touch. ISO/IEC 18004 treats both symbols the same; the workflow does not. A 2 cm flyer mark that worked on a desk still needs a street-size export if the same pitch moves to a board. Scan the board after rain. Uncoated ink spreads. Reprint the board when it scuffs; rewrite the hosted line when the viewing moves. Keep the country code in the number field even when every current buyer is local. A tourist SIM is the real test. A local staff phone is not. Rewrite the hosted line when the annex becomes the door.
Questions this raises
Keep it short enough to show on a phone compose box. A booking prompt line beats a paragraph the OS may trim.
Yes on the hosted WhatsApp type. Seed text rewrite later is a dashboard edit. Scans follow a 302.
The phone offers to install WhatsApp, then opens the chat. That is OS behaviour.
A short booking prompt line is enough. You can add the address later via seed text rewrite later without reprinting hosted flyers.
