Social profile QR code how to

SmartQRCode editorial · Updated October 2026

Social profile QR code how to is the profile side of the Social Media type: display name, optional bio, optional square photo, then the channels you actually use. The print stays. The handles do not have to. If one profile URL will never move and you do not need counts, encode it once in Canva and stop.

Social profile QR code how to

You are not encoding six long URLs into the modules. You are filling a profile card that SmartQRCode hosts, then printing a short URL as the symbol. bio and display name sit in the Profile group. Your Name is required. Short Bio is a two-row textarea. Profile Photo is a square file. Under that, the six network URLs live in Social Links. At least one URL is required so the card is not a name over blank buttons.

Skip this type when you only want a Facebook page. That is facebook type versus social: the Facebook type is a single facebookUrl plus name and optional profession. Skip it when the job is a shop's hours and phone. That is the business profile type, not a link tree. Skip it when the profile URL is carved in stone and you will never count scans. A static generator is cheaper honesty than a hosted page you will not edit.

Paid access is $1.99, $29, $97, or $197. There is no unpaid tier. A hosted profile lasts as long as the provider resolves the URL. That is the trade for channel death edits without a business card reprint.

Name, bio, and the square photo

  1. Choose Social Media in create. Do not pick Website URL and paste a Linktree; that is a redirect type with a different page.
  2. Type Your Name exactly as you want it on the phone. This is the heading scanners read, not an account login.
  3. Fill Short Bio only if one line adds something the name does not. Photographer and city is enough. A manifesto is not.
  4. Upload Profile Photo as a square. Crop before you upload. A landscape banner in the square slot letterboxes.
  5. Paste the profile URLs you will keep, full https, at least one. Leave dead networks empty.
  6. Set Appearance colours and font for the landing page. Logo and colours on the symbol itself are a separate design step.
  7. Ignore the unpaid on-screen pattern for print. It encodes /qr-preview, not your tree.
  8. Export SVG or a 300 dpi PNG or PDF. On a business card, keep the symbol above 2 cm and the quiet zone inside the card edge, not bled off a round corner. Scan with the camera app at about 30 cm.

Social media QR codes are the generator for this type. The field-by-field type walkthrough is how to make a social media QR code.

What belongs in the bio line

what belongs in the bio line is a sentence the phone can show without scrolling. The placeholder is Photographer and content creator. That is the length. It is not a second landing page, not a menu, and not your hours. Hours belong on a business QR code. A block-based page belongs on custom, which is still beta.

If the bio duplicates the name, delete it. Empty bio is cleaner than a repeated handle. If you change the bio after print, the cards on the table still work. That is the point of a hosted profile.

For a launch kit, pair the tree with a site code only if you need two jobs. Product launch placements are the usual reason to print more than one symbol. Two codes in one camera frame typically return one, so separate them on the card.

When the Facebook type is narrower

when the Facebook type is narrower is when the only public surface is a Facebook page. Filling five empty slots and one Facebook URL on Social Media still works, but the Facebook type is built as a profile card for that one URL. Use how to make a Facebook QR code for that job.

Do not put a personal Facebook profile that only friends can open. The scanner is not your friend. Paste a Page URL. If you also need Instagram, you are back on the six-slot type. The Facebook type will not grow a second network.

A Website URL that points at your Facebook page is a third shape: a redirect, no profile card, destination changeable after print. Use it when you do not want our landing page at all.

Wrong handle after the print run

A typo in Instagram is the failure that looks like a broken QR. The code scans. The page opens. The button goes to a missing user. Fix the URL in the dashboard. Do not reprint unless the modules themselves are damaged.

A handle change on the network is the same fix: paste the new URL. That is channel death edits. The physical card does not know. A static profile baked into the modules cannot do this. That is business card reprint territory, and it is why a one-off Canva file is the wrong tool the moment you expect a rename.

Low light and a glossy laminate on a black card fail more often than the wrong camera app. Current iOS Camera and Android Camera / Google Lens read a well-formed symbol from the viewfinder. Confirm with a phone that is not already logged into the network you are testing, or a private account will look like success.

On a business card the symbol competes with type, foil, and round corners. Keep it above 2 cm and the quiet zone inside the card edge. A foil ground scatters. Print the pattern on a solid white patch, then foil around it. Scan counts on this type are totals, device, and country. They are not a follower report.

A single immortal profile in a static file

If the only payload is https://instagram.com/theband and that URL will outlive the poster, generate a static QR in Canva, a Google one-off, or the phone's generator. You will not get scan totals. You will not edit the destination. You also will not pay $29 for a page you will never open again.

Use the hosted Social Media type when the bio, the photo, or the list of networks will move, or when the print run has to report whether anyone scanned. Keep the quiet zone. Keep finders clear. Send the printer a vector or high-resolution file, not a photo of the laptop.

Questions this raises

A short line under the name, two rows in the form. It is not a second landing page. Leave it blank if the name is enough.

When you only need one Facebook page URL, a name, and optional profession. The six-slot tree is a different type.

A hosted profile changes the page without new cards. A static profile URL in the modules needs a business card reprint when the handle moves.

No. It is optional. A stretched banner in the square crop looks worse than no photo.

No. Analytics record scans of the code, not taps per network.
